Christmas Morning!

Checking out his note from Santa.

Checking out his note from Santa.

This year, Coop really got into the whole Santa thing.  (Although he still refused to see him saying that “you’ll tell him what I want mama”)  He very carefully made cookies and left them out for the big man.  We poured milk for him, although Coop thought he might prefer chocolate milk next time.  (When I was a kid, daddy and mama insisted that Santa really liked Coke.  He needed the caffeine they said.  Now I know daddy just doesn’t like milk.)  The next morning, he came down the stairs, saw his prizes and was so excited!!  Mark and I were like little kids ourselves!  It was too much fun!  Mark wants to hire Uncle G to come over next year and walk on the roof for added effect.  (Poor Uncle G)

And of course, his fave toy was the one that I got on clearance months and months ago and had forgotten about.  He played with the Toy Story figures all morning… using his trampoline as his stage.  Enjoy a few pics from the big day!

Notice the stocking he is holding in this picture… it’s bigger than he is.  Santa is VERY generous at the Maxey household. img_4268 Mama and daddy also bought him a John Deere tractor and trailer… these are the real deal.  Very heavy.  We’ll have him out in the fields this summer.

Outler Family Christmas!

Sorry I’ve slacked on the blogging!  I’ll do better I promise!  Here are a few pictures of my mom’s side of the family at Christmas.  the first on is of MOST of the kids.  And this is the best picture i got… it would take an act of God to get them to all look at the same time! Most of the kiddies... getting a pic where they all are looking would quite possibly take an act of God.

Away in a Manger

manger-scene1

Cooper loves playing with this manger scene that Dianne (Mark’s mom) gave us years and years ago.  He puts everyone in their place, talks to them, has a grand ol’ time.  He even props the angel precariously on top of the creche.  Sadly, Joseph is no longer with us.  On a long journey over the desert via Cooper’s sock, he was dropped and broke in half.  Coop gave the shepherd an upgrade… he is now playing the role of Joseph.

My overprotective boy

Cooper loves his ladies.  Mercy, Lydia, Mae, the list goes on and on.  But little Mae is special.  I don’t know why, but Coop is extremely overprotective of her.  Mae is about 3 weeks younger than Cooper and he just thinks she’s great.  She came over for a playdate recently and it was all he could talk about.

“mama, ya know who’s coming to my house?  Mae.  She’s beautiful.”  (He is always telling us how beauttiful she is.  I think he watches too much tv)

They played with all of the toys in the playroom and eventually ended up in costumes.  She was a princess and he was a “hero” (first a prince then hercules) and I… well, I was the dragon.  But at least I got to play, right?  I love this picture of them… it’s like their serious shot for a movie poster… In the next picture she had  lost her crown in one of the battles but Coop helped her out…

At church recently, when one of the adult volunteers was playing with Mae and tickling her, Coop walked over and firmly said, “Don’t do that. She is MY girlfriend.”  And of course, my favorite moment so far… we were having lunch at Chick-fil-A with Mae and her mom and siblings.  Coop was facing the play area while eating his ice cream.  Mae was leaving the playplace and another boy accidentally knocked Mae over.  Coop was in mid scoop– ice cream in the spoon on the way to his mouth– when we heard him yell “NO!” as he jumped down from his chair and ran to defend Mae’s honor.  Fortunately for the other little boy, Coop stopped to check on Mae first which gave me time to get to him before he made it to the poor kid who had dared to hurt his Mae.  Mae’s mother, Brooke, thinks this is hysterical which is good… I don’t want them to think he’s some crazed stalker at the age of 2!!!

I have a feeling he’s going to get in a lot of fights in high school when it comes to girlfriends.  Sigh…

My future’s so bright…

I gotta wear shades

We LOVE Christmas in my house!  Mark and I start the Christmas music in October and the weekend before Thanksgiving, we head to the mountains to get the tree.  This year, snow was on the ground and it was gorgeous!  (And cold)  Coop found the perfect tree… but it was about 6 feet too short.

Then Marky found a beautiful, large, ginormous tree–seriously, we love fat trees but this one takes the cake…please come and see it. The hunt was over!  We tried to get a family photo to commemorate this fine tradition, but, alas, Coop was more interested in throwing snow at the Newnum girls and our friend Taylor tan to stay still for the picture… here’s the best we could do.

So Coop and I were pulling up to “chik-a-ya” the other day (Coop’s fave spot and mine too since I have enough free coupons to last us till Jesus comes back) and Coop was pondering some big questions…

“Uncle G is fixing my pirate ship.”  (Coop)

“Yep, Uncle G’s the coolest.”  (me)

“Yeah… Uncle G… Uncle Tis…Uncle Bi-un…(look of puzzlement plus exasperation on his face) Why do I have SO MANY uncles????”  (Coop)

Just a few  more people to spoil ya rotten, kid.  Enjoy the pics below of Coopman and his many uncles..

Dream kid…

How great would it be if your child’s favorite hobby was vacuuming the floor?

Apple pickin’ time!

img_3478

Or apple eatin’ time if you’re Coop-man!  Fortunately the good people at J.H. Stepp Orchards are super nice and think that eating as you pick is the only way to find the right apple for YOU!  This is our 2nd year traveling to Hendersonville for some fall fun that includes picking our own apples.  We highly recommend this to your family.  It’s gorgeous outside, the leaves are changing colors and there’s just something about picking your own fruit that makes you feel all “homey” inside!

Coop enjoys the cut-out pictures you put your head in, the scarecrows (“they’re not mad are they?”-”mad” is what he says for any kind of meanness, anger, etc… EX: all villains are “mad”), and most importantly, the ability to run free in the orchards.  Enjoy the pictures!
